Sefer Project
Guidelines
Here are some basic guidelines to get you started on what we
feel is a very exciting project for our shul.
|
|
|
|
|
| Topic: |
On the advice of many members, it was decided that the first installment of our
series of sefarim IY”H would be on any Jewish holiday. This means that a family
may write a piece about Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkos, Shmini Atzeres /
Simchas Torah, Chanukah, Purim, Pesach, Shavuos and Tisha B’Av. |
| Length: |
The article should be no more than four pages, double spaced, including
footnotes. The article should be saved in Word or word compatible format to
ease the process of compiling and formatting the articles. |
| Sources: |
The purpose of the project is to unify the shul and present a volume of Torah
study which others might find of interest. Therefore, in order to assure that
the sefer will be a valuable resource for the widest range of people, we ask
each family to carefully choose their topic and sources. |
| Miscellaneous: |
In addition to the contribution of articles by each family there will be many
other areas that will require creativity, time and effort. This will include,
designing the layout of the sefer, designing the cover of the sefer, naming the
sefer, formatting the articles, editing the articles, etc. Anyone who has an
interest in being involved with any part of the project is encouraged to help
and asked to contact Rabbi Schaffel either by e-mail or on his cell phone. |
| Deadline: |
The deadline for submission of the first draft will Friday June 30, 2006. I
hope this is enough time for families to study and prepare their article. I
would ask, however, that those families that are planning to participate to
e-mail me to let me know so I will have an idea of the scope of the project.
Additionally it will be helpful to have an idea of the range of topics that
will be addressed to avoid too much duplication. |
I hope this is enough information to get started and as I receive more input
more details will be shared with the membership. If you have any ideas or
concerns please feel free to call me on my cell phone. Thank you in advance for
your participation.
