YIOS Annual Picnic revised date
Our YIOS Annual Picnic will be held on Sunday, July 29th, 2007 at Central Park in Skokie. Please contact David Yudkowski for details. 4:00 p.m. See ya!

GRADUATION KIDDUSH!
Young Israel of Skokie will host the Graduation Kiddush on June 2nd. To sponsor for your graduate (Kindergarten, 8th grade, high school, college, anything!) contact David Silverman.

YIOS Book Club Meets in May
Wednesday, May 30th, at Lana Sternberg's home. The book is A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell. June Book Club will be on Wednesday, June 27th, the book is Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. July selection is Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. (7/25) August selection is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. (8/29)

Mrs. Barbara Silverman ~ May 10, 8:30 pm
Mrs. Silverman is the founder of A Package From Home, a grass-roots philanthropic organization operating in Jerusalem. They send care packages to soldiers in the IDF to show solidarity and to than them for the sacrifices they are making on behalf of the State of Israel. Since 2001, approximately 125,000 packages have been sent, including 22,000 over the 32 days of last summer's war in Lebanon. Mrs. Silberman will speak about this amazing organization and the importance of supporting the young men & women protecting the State of Israel.

Annual Summer Picnic

The book club meets again on june 28th at Sara Routman's home. The book is called The Piano Tuner, by Daniel Mason.

Pre-Pesach Shabbat Meals
Once again, Young Israel of Skokie will be having our very successful pre-Pesach Shabbat meals. Join us for Friday night dinner (April 7th) and / or Shabbat lunch (April 8th). Strict deadlines must apply, Shul members please return the order form to Sandy Abramowitz no later than March 26th. Whatever space is left will be open to the public with a very strict deadline of April 2nd. A reservation for will be available online later this week. Please check back!

Join the women of Young Israel for another fun and informative se'udat shlishi. Roxanne Abrams will speak on the Four Sons of Hagadah fame. March 25th at 5:45.

Women's Book Club continues ...
on March 29th, at the home of Ellyn Scheer, (see you shul list for her address). The book is In My Brother's Image by Eugene Pogany. It is the story of twin brothers seperated at birth, and the different paths their lives took.

We regret to inform you ...
of the passing of Bernard Singer, Hindy Finkel's father.Hindy is sitting shiva Saturday Night, Sunday and Monday. Monday Night, Tuesday and Wednesday (until nightfall) there is no Shiva because of Purim. Wednesday night Shiva resumes through Thursday morning. Hindy asks that people do not come Sunday and Monday from 10:00 a.m – 3:30 p.m. Shiva is at 3705 W. Arcadia Street.

Women's Book Club a HUGE SUCCESS!
Last month's Book Club was a great success! Please join us for the next Women's book club. Which is meeting Wednesday, February 22nd.  The book is the Spiral Staircase by Karen Armstrong.

YIOS Women's Book Club 1st Meeting!
The first meeting of the Young Israel Women's Book Club will meet on Wednesday, January 25th at 7:30 pm. The book being discussed is "The Plot Against America" by Philip Roth. It will meet at the home of Beth Yudkowsky.

Rabbi Michael Myers
The Education Committee of Young Israel of Skokie is pleased to announce that Rabbi Michael Myers, Dean of the Hebrew Theological College, Instructor of Judaic Studies at ICJA, past principal of Ida Crown Jewish Academy will be presenting Megillat HaAtzmaut, the Case of the Jewish State on Wednesday, January 18 at 8:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, no solicitation of funds. Please contact the shul office for more information.

Calling all Hockey Fans!!
If you are interested in attending a Chicago Wolves Hockey game on Sunday Jan 22nd at 4PM against Houston. Please let Batyah Cohen know ASAP. The cost of tickets would be $22 per person and we need a minimum of 15 people for this to happen.
